# Overview

Ottochain is the first consumer chain launched by Octopus Network that adopts Octopus 2.0 Interchain Security. It is built on the [Cosmos SDK](https://github.com/cosmos/cosmos-sdk/) and maintains compatibility and interoperability with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) by introducing an EVM module. 

The Cosmos SDK application chain utilises [CometBFT](https://github.com/cometbft/cometbft) as the consensus engine, and the PoS consensus protocol ensures the fast finality of blocks with high transaction throughput and block generation rate.
